I have not meet anyone in the Ontario college system that thought he or she would work for a community college, but we all enjoy it! I am the same! Teaching at Durham College has given me the opportunity to work with hundreds of fantastic students; each one with his or her own unique gifts and talents. When teaching adults, no day, week, or semester is the same!
Kevin Westwood
Employment Counsellor, YMCA
Alumna: BA Health, 2010
After graduating from York, I took a 2 year trip to South Korea. When I got back I worked in market research for a toy company. I realized I didn't care for the corporate life so I pivoted into a Literacy and Basic Skills instructor position. After 9 months an Employment Counselor position came up which I applied for and received. I love helping people realize their career related goals.

Ashley Carr
Social Worker, University of Toronto/Private Practice
Alumna: Specialized Honours BA, Pyschology, 2010
Having always been interested in the mental health field, studying psychology was an easy choice. My honours BA at York laid the groundwork for my current career as a social worker, providing mental health and therapy services for young adult/adult populations. My passion for providing safe and authentic spaces for people to feel accepted, heard, and supported has only grown throughout my years in this field.
