Job Search Workshops

Have a specific job in mind but not sure how to get there? The Job Search workshops are designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills to write an amazing resumé and cover letter, wow them at your next interview, make connections in your field and find a position that meets your needs.

You’ve Got Skills! workshop

Being able to identify and articulate your skills is an essential part of a successful job search. This introductory workshop is an important starting point for all other Job Search workshops. In this workshop, you will identify the key skills and accomplishments that you have to offer and learn how to articulate them in your resumé, cover letter, and during networking and interview situations.

Wondering where and how to begin with LinkedIn? Attend this hands-on workshop held in a computer lab to compose, edit and improve your LinkedIn profile. Learn how LinkedIn can support your job search efforts and how you can stand out as a top candidate. Attendees of this workshop will have the option of getting pictures taken to use as part of their profile.

How to Find a Job Using LinkedIn webinar

Are you interested in learning how to use LinkedIn effectively in your job search? In this online webinar, learn about strategies for creating a strong online identity and presence, build your professional network and leverage LinkedIn’s features to support you in your job search.

To participate in a webinar, you will need a computer (with speakers or headphones), internet access, and Adobe Flash Player installed in your browser. You will receive the URL of the webinar in a reminder email after you’ve registered for the event. On the day of the event, you can login to the webinar and ask your questions via chat.

Translating a CV to a Resumé workshop

This workshop is specially designed for Masters and Doctoral level students. In this workshop, you’ll understand the difference between a CV and a resumé and how each is intended for a different situation. You will also learn how to translate your academic CV into a resumé suitable for a non-academic job search.
