The Learning Disabilities Association of Toronto District (LDATD) is a chapter of the Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario (LDAO) serving the amalgamated City of Toronto. We are a Not for Profit Charity. 

 

Learning Disabilities Association is committed to creating a society in which people with LDs are able to achieve the full expression of their intellect and abilities and enabled to contribute in the workplace to their fullest. To further this goal, we do the following: 

 

Provide written and verbal information about learning disabilities and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) 

Provide referral services to professionals, tutors 

Operate a resource center, offering books, videos and materials open to all 

Provide support and guidance to parents and guardians concerning their children’s rights in the school system 

Advocacy for both children and adults 

Undertake public awareness activities 

Publish a newsletter for members three times a year 

Presentations to community groups, schools, professional development days, conferences and seminars 

Hold free public events on various aspects of learning disabilities 

Provide direct programs such as social skills, keyboarding, assistive technology training, tutoring, mindfulness, youth groups, camps, workshops, seniors programs, support groups etc.

Recruiting for: We offer a unique youth leadership program for LD youth (ages 15-30) and youth will co-create community service projects with our support and will earn free standard First Aid/ CPR, High 5 and online project management training. We have successfully completed cohort 5 and are currently recruiting participants for cohort 6 ( Mid Oct, 2021-Feb, 2022). Again, the YIELD program will be offered online and continue to train and connect youth to opportunities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please see below for details. The Y.I.E.L.D (Youths' Initiative and Excellence with LD'S) is a unique program designed to support LD youth to gain valuable skills and increase civic engagement opportunities that will benefit them in life and work while making a difference in their community.
