VHA Home HealthCare (VHA) is a not-for-profit charitable organization that offers 24/7 health care services and community support programs to people of all ages and cultural backgrounds. Founded in 1925 as the Visiting Homemakers Association, VHA’s goal is to provide clients with spectacular service when, where and how they want it to support their independence. VHA is committed to high quality services for vulnerable at-risk families and specializes in home support during medical and situational crisis, as well as short-term relief for parents experiencing postpartum/depression or other mental health issues. VHA is also experienced in working with squalor and problematic hoarding and take a best-practice, harm-reduction approach. Our caring team of professionals and skilled community volunteers provide service to enhance and improve the client experience during even the most challenging times. VHA proudly meets the national standards of excellence in health care set out by Accreditation Canada, is a Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario Best Practice Spotlight Organization and an anchor partner of the United Way Greater Toronto. VHA is also an active member in fourteen Ontario Health Teams in the regions where we provide service and actively participates in other integrated care initiatives with partner organizations.

Recruiting for: Active Body, Active Mind, In-Home Activation and Respite (Seniors): Volunteers will help maintain and promote the physical, emotional and cognitive well-being of vulnerable seniors with dementia living at home. Volunteers also help by caring for vulnerable seniors and offering respite time for caregivers. Child and Family Support As a peer support for moms, Child and Family Support volunteers help support new moms, experiencing multiple stresses and isolation. Volunteers act as a resource to families providing them the means to discover and connect with social supports in their community and to make positive changes in their lives. Volunteers work with families in their homes and interact with infants and toddlers (aging from newborns to 4 years old) along with moms. Seniors' Entertainment and Visiting Volunteers visit a care facility in east Toronto weekly, for 3 hours, to offer social engagement and / or entertainment for frail seniors. PPE Delivery and Good Neighbours Enroute Essential Goods Delivery PPE Delivery volunteers pick-up PPE at VHA and deliver it to front-line healthcare staff and service providers at various locations throughout the Greater Toronto Area. Good Neighbours Enroute volunteers shop and deliver essential items for vulnerable clients and families, who have limited to no supports.
