Building Safer, Inclusive Social & Recreational Spaces for the 2SLGBTQ+ Community in York Region
If you are a person who identifies as a member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community in York Region or are seeking support for a friend or family member as an ally, here is what you can access through our Rainbow Space program:
- Inclusive and safer spaces to gather together and build social networks
- Opportunities to organize and participate in recreational activities
- Information and resources about health and social services
- Lending library of queer literature and books
- Volunteering & leadership development opportunities
- Peer learning & wellness promotion groups
Rainbow Space programs are peer-led and peer-directed.
2SLGBTQ+ community members including youth, older adults, and seniors can access both drop-in and facilitated groups through Rainbow Space.
All programs and services through Rainbow Space are free and confidential.

Recruiting for: Current Volunteer Opportunities: *Office/Administrative support Filing, organizing/maintaining inventory, data entry and other administrative needs *Sorting clothing/donations for clients Monthly clothing donations and gifts for annual Holiday Wish List Program *Support monthly/annual client events Client socials, wellness groups and retreats, holiday party, etc. *Support community outreach & education activities Tabling/booths at community events, assistance with workshops and events, organizing materials, public speaking as needed *Fundraising A Taste for Life: Tasks may include soliciting silent auction donations, promoting fundraiser, facilitating attendance, donor communications, event hosting, media outreach as needed Holiday Wish List Program: Promoting fundraiser, soliciting donations, donor communications Ongoing agency fundraising activities: Support with donor prospecting and relationship building, grant research and writing, and donor database management *Serve on the Board of Directors

We look for volunteers for all parts of our programs (Rainbow Space, Harm Reduction Support & Services and the HIV/Aids Support & Services Program). Volunteers are matched with specific programs depending on their interests, skills, experience and the needs of the agency.
