Want to meet York Alumni and other professionals who are putting their degree to use in a variety of fields?
Connect with professionals currently enjoying careers in a variety of settings and get the inside scoop on what it’s really like to work in these fields. During this panel professionals will share their personal stories about breaking into their field, how their career paths took them from graduation to where they are now, what knowledge, skills and experience helped them succeed in their jobs and what types of opportunities are available in their field. The panel will be moderated by one of the Career Centre’s team members and followed by an open forum where students will have an opportunity to ask the panelists their own questions.
Registration is required. You may register for this event on the Career Centre's online system (you must sign up for an account before you will be able to register for any events on the system).

Charles Barone
Senior Advisor, Policy
Cancer Care Ontario
Alumnus: BA Political Science, 2005
After graduating from York University, I decided to take the skills I learned in my politics courses and help others solve difficult problems. This led me to work overseas, for charities and now a government agency. While a student, I learned how to look at the world in a comprehensive way, and this is still the most vital skill I apply to my current work.
Alysha Brown
Manager, Marketing Planning,
Scotiabank
Alumna: BA Political Science, 2008
When designing the next steps in my career, marketing was an option; just not one that I had considered when I graduated. After a severe cycling accident in 2010, I reassessed my career in banking, where I had worked while completing my degree.
Now as the proud mother of two boys with an incredible life partner, I’m going for my MBA to prepare for the next phase in my career.
Saranjit Singh Cheema
Legal Counsel,
UFCW Locals 175 & 633
Alumnus: BA Political Science and Anthropology, 2011
When I arrived at Keele campus in 2005, I had ideas about how my life would unfold, but no real clue as to how I would get there. Being involved on campus, in political life, and within my community helped me find my path. Today, I practice union-side labour and human rights law, am an active member of the NDP and have a vague idea of where I'm headed.

When I first enrolled in this program 17 years ago, I could not have predicted the winding road that would lead me to where I am today. I dabbled in Photography, Municipal politics and ENGOs. Today, I work in Social Services supporting people that have an Acquired Brain Injury. Everyday provides opportunities for learning and growth!
