Post a Job

Reach York's talented students using the Career Centre’s online job posting and registration system, Experience York.

  • Experience York allows you to post and manage jobs, collect application documents, and batch resumés for review. It is the first place the Career Centre advises students and new grads to look for jobs.

If you have never used the system before:

  • Click on Register  (opens in a new window) Fill in the required "Organization", "Division" and "Contact" information, then click Next
  • Once you have registered, an administrator will approve your registration (this may take up to two business days)
  • After your registration has been approved, you will be able to post jobs, view applications and batch resumés

If you already have an account:

  • Login using your registered username and password
  • Go to the Career Centre Job Postings section
  • Click on the Post a job posting button

Posting a job is one method of reaching York students with information about your career opportunities. The Career Centre offers a variety of customized recruitment strategies to help you connect with the students and new grads you want to reach.

The Career Centre reserves the right to screen all employer registrations and/or job posting submissions, and the right to decline posting employment opportunities.

Job postings must be complete with a job title, job description and job requirements. If insufficient information is provided, an employer registration and/or job posting may be declined. Additionally, all employers registered on the online system must have a valid company email address and company telephone number.

Job postings submitted through the online system must be clearly marked as volunteer if they are unpaid positions, this includes unpaid internships.

Job postings of an inappropriate manner, including postings which have profane language, involve nudity, etc. will not be posted.

Opportunities in which students are asked to be subjects of research studies will not be posted.

Jobs that involve soliciting/promotion of your organization and/or its products on campus is not permitted.  Therefore, we cannot post your job at this time.  York University is classed as private property and you cannot hire employees to work on York’s campuses.

Organizations are asked to refrain from having the job posting deadline/end date no more than one year from the posting date. If your organization is constantly recruiting for the same position, you will be able to repost your position. This will ensure that your job posting does not become stale. If your organization is looking for additional ways to recruit candidates, please consider attending one of our career fairs as an alternative option.

Types of Recruiters

Third party recruiters are defined as agencies, organizations, or individuals recruiting candidates for temporary, part-time, or full-time employment on behalf of others and not for their own needs. Placement agencies and employers who hire on behalf of privately owned schools, for teaching positions abroad, are considered third-party recruiters. In some case, third-party recruiters charge students a fee for processing their applications. The Canadian Association of Career Educators and Employers (CACEE) provides guidelines for third-party recruiters to best meet the needs of students, employers and career educators.

The York University Career Centre requires third-party recruiters (agencies, organizations or individuals recruiting candidates for employment opportunities with other organizations) to identify their employer clients, so as to determine that the position listed is an actual opportunity and that it does not duplicate a position already listed with the Career Centre. This information will be held in confidence and not released to candidates unless authorized by the third party recruiter. Should the third party recruiter be unable or unwilling to provide the name of the employer or client, the position will not be accepted for listing.

Candidates' resumes collected for positions posted through Career Centre must not be held in the files of the third party recruiter for later referral to other positions unless authorized by the candidate.

Meet the Team

Meet with one of our Career Counsellors to discuss your career concerns!

Hello! I'm Jeanne. I am down-to-earth, quick to laugh, love hearing life stories and singing my heart out!

For those who feel lost in your career, that was me in my 20's. I didn't find myself until... wait for it... I was sent to a career counsellor. There, I saw how I could help people reach their full potential, using my people skills and life experience.

Within a year, I earned my Career and Work Counsellor diploma and landed a job in a non-profit employment agency. When I decided I wanted to help university students find careers they'll love, I began a job search advisor position at York’s Career Centre, and started my Master’s in Counselling Psychology, part-time. When I graduated in 2011, a career counsellor position opened at the Career Centre, and I happily stepped into my dream job!

My career advice to you is to remain open, curious and reflective on your journey. Remember that everything works out in the end. And if it hasn’t, then it’s not the end! (John Lennon, adapted from an old Indian proverb)

Do you need support with your job search, either your career after graduation, a part-time or summer job while you're at York? Are you unsure how to develop your strategy? Do you need feedback on your resumé or interview practice?

Meet with one of our Career Educators to support you with your job search!

I am a career professional with nearly a decade of experience providing career, co-op placement and employment advising to students in a fast-paced post-secondary environment. In my current position as a career educator at the York University Career Centre, I educate students with the best of strategies and insights on how to navigate the world of work.

My academic background includes a Canadian equivalent BA in English Honours spanning three years, complemented by a Bachelor of Education (BEd) obtained in India. I am also a graduate of the Career Development Practitioner Postgraduate program from George Brown College in Toronto, and an award-recipient of the 'Excellence in Counselling' Award 2014.

As someone deeply involved in the realm of career development, I find great resonance in the words of Steve Jobs: "Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do."

Meet with one of our Career Peer Educators to gain career advise!

Hi, I’m Ari! An international Career Peer Educator from Lesotho.  I am always happy to assist students with navigating the Career Centre’s services.  One of my favorite things about working in my role is helping students find more confidence in the skills and experiences they already possess.

As a 4th year Sociology student, I love working closely with my community and being an advocate for issues that require change and improvement. Outside of work, I can be found painting, playing music, and being in nature. Hope to see you at a drop-in session!
