Chris GatesSenior Manager, Climate Change Policy, Office of the Environmental Commissioner of Ontario
I’ve been active in the field of environmental sustainability for over 30 years; in municipal and provincial government, in consulting, and in the private sector. From 1999 to 2008, I worked for Enbridge playing a lead role in developing Enbridge’s climate change and related corporate social responsibility programs. I joined the Office of the Environmental Commissioner of Ontario in October 2008. Here, I’m really enjoying the opportunity to make a difference in the development of government policy that reduces greenhouse gas emissions while growing the low-carbon, green economy. I manage my own carbon footprint by running several marathons each year, including the Boston marathon five times in the past seven years.
