Professional Organizations & Associations in Sports & Recreation

Professional organizations and associations are an excellent way to learn more about a career of interest, professional designations, and networking opportunities (e.g. memberships, conferences). Physical and Health Education Canada: a professional organization for physical and health educators working in the school system and university professors engaged in teacher training and research in physical and health education.

Coaching Association of Canada: an amateur sport organization with the mandate to improve the effectiveness of coaching across all levels of the sport system.

North American Society for Sport Management: encourages study, research, scholarly writing, and professional development in the area of sport management.

Ontario Physical & Health Education Association: promotes active living in schools and communities.

Sports Media Canada: the Canadian chapter of the Association Internationale de la Presse Sportive which is known in English as the International Sports Press Association, the only world-wide organization for international sports media. The association organizes contests and exhibition platforms for the best work of photographers and writers; produces a number of publications; and has an annual student bursary program offering incentives for increasing involvement in sports journalism in Canadian post-secondary educational institutions.
