Professional organizations and associations are an excellent way to learn more about a career of interest, professional designations, and networking opportunities (e.g. memberships, conferences). Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA): a union of professional performers working in English-language recorded media in Canada including TV, film, radio and digital media.

Art Dealers Association of Canada: was established to provide a professional platform that would set ethical standards for operating galleries, lobby government on issues affecting the visual arts, and consider the problems of fake, forged and misrepresented art sold in member galleries.

Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario: ARIDO represents the interior design profession to the general public and at the municipal and provincial levels of government.

Canadian Association for Music Therapy: promotes excellence in music therapy, practice, education, research and development. This site provides information about music therapy, including educational requirements and credentials.

Canadian Association of Children's Authors, Illustrators and Performers: supports and promotes children's literature through newsletters, workshops, meetings and other information programs for authors, illustrators, performers, parents, teachers, librarians, publishers and others.

Canadian Council for the Arts: Canada's national arts funding agency which provides funding to individual professional artists and arts organizations, and awards fellowships and prizes to artists and scholars.

Canadian Museums Association: the national organization for the advancement of the Canadian museum sector, representing Canadian museum professionals both within Canada and internationally.

Cultural Human Resources Council: brings together cultural workers and employers to address training, career development and other human resource issues.

Documentary Organization of Canada: Canada's largest documentary community which advocates for documentary filmmakers nationwide on issues that affect the industry, offers professional development workshops and networking opportunities.

Music Therapy Association of Ontario: contains information, links and resources for both members of MTAO and the general public.

News Photographers Association of Canada: celebrates and champions quality and ethical photography in journalism. This site contains valuable resources, including blogs and industry news, links to job boards and information about contests.

Professional Photographers of Canada: supports photographers to become industry leaders and informs the public of the value in hiring an accredited professional photographer. This site has the latest news about the field of photography and information about professional photography designations.

The Canadian Association of Professional Image Creators: a national association dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the rights and interests of photographers, illustrators and digital artists working in the communications industry.

Toronto Musicians' Association: provides legal protection and advice, insurance, access to visas, referrals and contacts for Toronto-based musicians.
