Book an Employer Recruitment Session

Employer Recruitment Sessions are a great way to showcase your organization and promote your career opportunities to a targeted student audience.

At York University, your company will find a highly skilled and diverse candidate pool from which to select the most appropriate individual to meet your needs.

How to Request an Employer Recruitment Session

You may request an Employer Recruitment Session on the Career Centre's online system.

If you have never used the system before:

  • Go to york-csm.symplicity.com/employers
  • Click on “Register”
  • Fill in the required "Organization" and "Contact" information, then click "Submit"
  • An administrator will approve your registration in approximately one business day and you will receive an email with your username and password.
  • Log in with your username and password at york-csm.symplicity.com/employers
  • Click on "Request New Recruitment Session" under quick links
  • Fill in the required information and click "Submit"
  • You will receive an email when your recruitment session has been approved

If you already have an account:

  • Log in with your username and password at york-csm.symplicity.com/employers
  • Click on "Request New Recruitment Session" under quick links
  • Fill in the required information and click "Submit"
  • You will receive an email when your recruitment session has been approved

Please submit your request far in advance as the space is scheduled on a first come, first served basis. Room availability is not guaranteed. Please book your session at least two weeks in advance of your desired date. The fee for hosting an Employer Recruitment Session is $175.00 plus HST.

Once your session is scheduled, the Career Centre will assist you with:

  • Arranging for your audio visual needs
  • Advertising your event – link to http://careers.yorku.ca/employers/promote-your-organization/
  • Social Networking
    • If your organization has a Facebook page or Twitter feed, we encourage you to advertise your Information Session there! We will retweet your event to our students.
  • Handling student registrations

What usually happens at Employer Recruitment Session

We recommend that your information session includes a short 20-30 minute presentation followed by networking.  In your presentation share with students:

  • Information about your organization and company culture
  • The types of positions you are hiring for and the qualifications required.  (We recommend you post the available positions on out on-line job posting system – include link: http://careers.yorku.ca/employers/post-a-job/)
  • Important recruitment dates and timeline (application deadline, interview, and job offers)
  • We encourage bringing hiring Managers and York Alum to speak.  Our students can connect well with and relate to our Alum.
  • Spend the remainder of your session networking and getting to know our students

Booking an Off-Campus Employer Recruitment Session

The Career Centre can help coordinate your on-campus event. If you need to host an Information or Briefing Session, we will work with you to make your event a success.

There is a $50 + HST fee for an off-campus session

Recruitment Policies & Disclaimer

  • All recruitment sessions are to be requested online, through the Career Centre's online system.
  • Employers and educators are expected to arrive before the scheduled start of their session.
  • Employers and educators are responsible for ordering their own catering. Catering must be ordered through the campus caterer, Aramark.
  • Requests for the use of audio-visual equipment must be made at least three business days ahead of time and not on the day of the event.
  • Employers and educators must be prepared to exit the room in which their event is scheduled, by the agreed upon ending time of the event.
