HMCS YORK, Royal Canadian Naval Reserve

HMCS YORK is proud to be Toronto’s Naval Reserve Division. The ship, a historic “stone frigate” building, has a strength of 300+ Non-Commissioned Members and Officers, with most training part-time, and some serving full time on voluntary contract availability.

Our primary mission is force generation, to train and ready soldier-sailors who may be called upon to support the missions of the Naval Reserves (NAV RES), the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN), and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). Our members may serve locally, at NAV RES Headquarters in Quebec City, at Canadian Forces Bases across the country, on Canada’s coasts, and overseas, wherever the CAF is tasked in times of domestic relief efforts, national defence operations, or international deployments.

Our secondary mission is to enhance the RCN’s presence in the Greater Toronto Area, through strategic outreach and recruitment. Our ship's company is diverse, and reflects the cultural mosaic of the GTA.
